2coldI am contemplating purchasing a Prowler. I currently own a great PT Cruiser, but there a too many of them and it's kind of slow (used to own 442's, Corvettes, etc). I read all the good things about Prowlers, but what are the drawbacks? I live in Wyoming so I have to have a good heater and I'm worried about the storage space for luggage on road trips. Can someone give me some insight?
sam7712cold,

I live in S.E. Idaho, I am enjoy my Prowler a lot in the summer time, I went to Yellowstone, Jackson, Cody and more places in Wyoming, Montana Colorado and California, I never have any problems to put my KAT hibernate at all the cold winter. I parked my KAT outside put a car cover on then put a tarp top tie it down real good be cause of windy in S.E. Idaho.

The only thing I wish my KAT have are Heated seat like my other vehicle so I longer times to enjoy my KAT.

sam771I bought a trailer and luggage rack if I taking 2 or 3 days trip I will use luggage rack if I go longer than that I will pull my trailer.
ed monahanThe heater in the Prowler will blow you out the doors. There is very little space to heat up, so it heats up very well. Get a PT chrome rack, now priced under $200. There is absolutely no comparison with a PT and a Prowler. I own one of each. The PT is a nice everyday car. The Prowler is unreal.
JeraneWDitto to Ed's reply. I have both, a PT and a Kat. One cannot replace the other as they both have a purpose. If I had to give up one, I guess it would be the PT as I also have a truck. Some of the guys, Like Black Tie 161, use their kats as everyday transportation, so you might get their reactions.
SpeedyG2COLD IT MAY BE TO COLD IN WYO.BUT THE KAT THATS ONE OF THE MANY OUTSTANDING THINGS IT HAS IS A HEATER,JUST TURN TEMP.ALL THE WAY HOT DON'T TURN IT ON BUT TURN OUTSIDE AIR THE BUTTON NEXT TO TEMP ON RIGHT AND YOU WILL FEEL GOOD BESIDE FEELING GOOD JUST BY OWNING A KAT AND FOR TRAVELING A PT.CRUISER LUGGAGE RACK OR BETTER YET A ORIGINAL PROWLER TRAILER WILL DO AND TO SLEEP IN PEACE PARK IT NEXT TO YOUR BEDROOM WINDOW GUARANTY YOU WILL FEEL LIKE IN HAVEN AND THAT'S I BELIVE REAL GOOD TRY IT YOU'LL LOVE IT. HOPE YOU BECOME PART OF THE PROWLIN ALONG FAM.
Dennis AcottIm not far from you in Fort Collins.Have had my 2000 for over 3 years and about 14000 mi. I dont use the car in bad weather and they arent as versitle as others as a daily driver. They sure are fun tho!
CTProwlerTry it you'll like it!I live in CT, My 2 Kats will be covered in their garage as soon as the snow hits the ground. (1 month?)Its just a fun TOY for nice weather, just like a boat!

Black Tie 161Hi 2cold...All drawbacks are far outweighed by it's cool factor. Heater works fine too!

If I had to list drawbacks....
no trunk space

Umm...that's about it.

BTW: HI JERRY!! HOW'S NC??

CTProwler.....Not a toy for me....It's the Prowler or walk! It does fine year 'round....

------------------

CTProwlerBlacktie---I'm not so sure i could drive my Kat in winter in CT. Last year we got alot of snow! I would be snow plowing the roads around here. Also the sand on the roads would be terrible for the paint job,WindshieldIf you live in a region where it just gets cold, but little or no snow then great. I would have to wash it even if i ran to the bank etc. Way to much work for me and i wouldn't enjoy it at all. I've been to 2 Prowler Events let me tell you from what i've seen those Kats haven't seen winter! Glad some of you out there have the ability to drive year round. It works good for me, less miles per year on my summer Toys!

------------------

Marty UsherMine is daily driver - 61,000 miles in less than 2 1/2 years. Storage space is only drawback other than smiling more everyday - people start to thing I'mm always in a good mood!!

Black Tie 161CTProwler...I hear ya!! Here in inbred Southern Maryland we got a boatload of snow last year. The car handled no worse than a Camaro or Vette in the snow, though...My only gripe was the massive amounts of salt on the roads...I had to rinse the car off every day to prevent corrosion...and rinsing the car off in sub freezing temps is a bit tricky....ever try to dry water off the car when it froze on contact??? LOL...
jmcant1Drawbacks:

1. Trunk space
2. Can be difficult to get in and out of
3. Poor visibility with the top up

** None of these drawbacks can detract from the Prowler providing the most smiles per mile of any car you have likely owned **

lilLuLu2cold would it be a daily driver?

We have both.
Our prowler is a weekender.

The pt and an old geo metro are for weekdays.

CatDude-> small gas tank
-> front wheel mud guards will hit on some speed bumps
-> it is difficult for small people to see out
-> it is difficult for large people to get in
-> I am averge height at 5'8", and it is a great fit, however, I do wish the doors would open further.

All that said, the things that are difficult to appreciate until you own one are:
-> The attention. I get a thumbs up or a comment almost every time I drive it.
-> Our club (POA). The first club event I went to, I felt like a 10-year old on Christmas day. It is so much fun meeting the people in person who are part of our club... I can't adequately describe it.
-> The addiction. Not all owners get this, but very many of us have it. We love these cars too much to fathom the idea of selling them.

VirginiaCatDude's Purrrrowler Page!!

SirRealI've been to two car shows with Blacktie 161 and anyone that has seen his Kat would never believe it is a daily driver, and certainly would never believe is has seen snow. I don't know how he does it but it has always looked like it just came from a Kat spa. Great job Joe.
dpenaThe drawbacks I faced when I desired a Prowler back in 1998 was the price... It was too freaking high.

Now, I could have bought 2 for the price I paid for mine.

No drawbacks from my point of view. If your thinking about getting a Prowler, then you want to be seen.

Later...
